Visit our museum

If you’re looking for a nice day out with the family, our museum is the place to be. Our natural history museum in the south-western part of Drenthe is perfect if you are looking for an indoor activity nearby.

Museum café

Our museum is also the place to be for a delicious cup of organic coffee or tea and some good old-fashioned ‘appeltaart’. The museum café is also freely accessible. Simply take a seat on our terrace overlooking the pond. During the summer, we also sell organic ice cream.

Museum Cycling Trail

Combine your visit to Miramar Zeemuseum with the Museum Cycling Trail of the ‘Schatkamers van Zuidwest-Drenthe’. This cycling trail takes you through the beautiful natural surroundings of this part of Drenthe, past burial mounds and dolmens. You can pick up the cycling itinerary at one of the ‘Schatkamers’ museums or download the Museum Cycling Trail here.

In our museum you will find a permanent exhibition about the unique life of miss Warners, as well as a temporary exhibition that changes every two years. In our museum garden you can follow a fun and short walking trail along a dozen signs with questions and interesting facts about the whale.

Museum shop

We have a unique museum shop. Our shop is freely accessible, a museum visit is not required. Are you looking for a beautiful shell or an original gift? Then you’re in the right place! Apart from shells, we also sell lots of (children’s) jewellery and souvenirs. Most jewellery is made of shell, such as the paua and the blacklip oyster.

We also have a selection of fun cuddly toys available. Most of these cuddly toys have an eco-label and are made from recycled plastic.
