exhibition

Every two years, Miramar Zeemuseum has a temporary exhibition dedicated to a variety of topics related to marine biology.

Exhibition about the whale

In 2023, the museum season kicks off with an exhibition about the world’s largest mammal: the whale. The highlight of the exhibition is a whale skeleton of several metres long!

What do you know about the whale?

Located in the garden behind Miramar Zeemuseum is the Whale Trail. Follow a shell path and wander past signs featuring fun questions and special facts about the whale. The Whale Trail is freely accessible to the public, even outside the opening hours of Miramar.

Previous temporary exhibitions at Miramar:

  • Plastic soup: the plastic pollution of our world causes many problems for humans and animals.
  • Deep sea: discover unusual (and at times scary) sea creatures from the depths of our oceans.

Whale

Stand face to face with a skeleton of a minke whale of almost 7 metres long. In this exhibition, you will learn all about the whale. From how it all started with the ancient whale, all the way to Dutch whaling activities in Antarctica.

A number of lectures related to this exhibition are planned for early 2023. More information will follow.
