Visit Miramar Zeemuseum

At Miramar Zeemuseum, a natural history museum in Vledder, you can discover the remarkable story of miss Warners and learn all about the whale in our temporary exhibition. We offer all kinds of activities for children in and around the museum. This makes Miramar a unique location for a surprising day out with the family.

Miramar Zeemuseum is easily accessible by car, bicycle and public transport. The museum is located 700 metres from Museum de Proefkolonie in Frederiksoord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Parking

Miramar Zeemuseum has its own car park with ample parking spaces in front of the museum. These parking spaces are also suitable for people with disabilities. Next to the museum additional parking spaces are available.

Opening hours

Miramar Zeemuseum is open from the 1st of April until the 1st of November. During this period, we are open from 13:00 until 17:00. We are also open for visits during the spring and Christmas holidays. Extended opening hours apply during holiday periods.

We are always closed on Mondays and Saturdays.

Would you like to visit Miramar with friends, family or colleagues? Are you looking for a fun location for a corporate event, school trip or birthday? Groups are more than welcome at Miramar Zeemuseum. We offer a reduced admission price per person and, upon request, a group visit is also possible outside of opening hours.

Accessibility

Miramar Zeemuseum is fully wheelchair accessible. There is a wheelchair ramp at the entrance and we have accessible toilets. Guide and assistance dogs are allowed. Well behaved companion dogs are welcome.

Museum Cycling Trail

Combine your visit to Miramar Zeemuseum with the Museum Cycling Trail of the ‘Schatkamers van Zuidwest-Drenthe’. This cycling trail takes you through the beautiful natural surroundings of this part of Drenthe, past burial mounds and dolmens. By car
You can easily reach the museum from Overijssel and Friesland via the A32, exit 6 (Steenwijk, Vledder).  

By public transport
From Steenwijk station, take bus line 20 towards Dieverbrug/Assen. This bus will stop at the bus stop Vledderweg 23, directly in front of Miramar Zeemuseum.

Please note: this bus does not run during the weekend. Always check 9292.nl for up-to-date bus times.
